BLS Provider (Initial / Renewal)

Prerequisites:  None - course is open to all.

Audience:  Basic Life Support (BLS) is designed to provide education to a wide variety of healthcare students, medical professionals, EMS, and other personnel working in healthcare occupations.    

What is covered:  The ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and  relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner are the main highlights of the curriculum. 

Written Exam: There are 2 attempts allowed to score 84% or better to pass the final assessment. It is open-book and time-limited to 30 minutes.

Completion card:  The BLS Provider eCard is issued when the student successfully completes the written exam. The BLS eCard is valid for two years.

You are required per AHA course regulations to have the current 2020-edition provider manual for this class (print or eBook).

If you plan on using a digital version (eBook) of the Provider Manual, please be aware that we do not provide device charging stations or WiFi services. You must ensure that your material is accessible and downloaded to your charged device and can be used offline. You must present the cover screen of the digital book on your device at class check-in if electing this option, unless purchased through Desert Education Solutions.

RECEIVING YOUR BOOK or EBOOK: 

  1. If you order the PAPER book, you will receive your book at class check-in. Orders made at least 15 business days or more in advance have optional book shipping available for an additional cost of $12.95. We do not offer a local pickup option before class check-in time.
  2. If you order the EBOOK, your access code will be found in your confirmation email. The eBook is not returnable or refundable.

It is imperative to read your course confirmation email after registering, as all necessary instructions in completing the BLS course will be provided there.

Additional course items

  • OPTIONAL:    An individual pocket mask can be used during the course (in lieu of the provided sanitary barrier), and is yours to keep.
  • OPTIONAL:    American Heart Association BLS lapel pin. Great for your uniform or badge / lanyard.
