The AHA’s PEARS® course has been updated to reflect science in the AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This Instructor-led classroom course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by teaching students to assess, recognize, and manage respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest until the child or infant is transferred to an advanced life support provider.

Prerequisites:  None - Open to All

Written Exam: The PEARS written test is 32 questions, and it is taken in-class with video sequences to make choices based on the viewer's assessment.  

Completion card:  The PEARS Provider eCard is issued at the end of the class. The PEARS eCard is valid for two years.

You are required per AHA course regulations to have the current edition provider manual for this class (print or eBook).

If you plan on using a digital version (eBook) of the Provider Manual, please be aware that we do not provide device charging stations or WiFi services. You must ensure that your material is accessible and downloaded to your charged device and can be used offline. You must present the cover screen of the digital book on your device at class check-in if electing this option, unless purchased through Desert Education Solutions.

RECEIVING YOUR BOOK or EBOOK: 

  1. If you order the PAPER book, you will receive your book at class check-in. Orders made at least 15 business days or more in advance have optional book shipping available for an additional cost of $12.95. We do not offer a local pickup option before class check-in time.
  2. If you order the EBOOK, your access code will be found in your confirmation email. The eBook is not returnable or refundable.

OPTIONAL BLS RENEWAL:  You may renew your BLS Provider eCard for when taking this course. BLS recertification during PEARS requires that we perform additional CPR skills checks during class, as well as having the student complete the BLS examination. This option will save nearly 3 hours of class time compared with the stand-alone BLS course.

 

Additional course items

  • OPTIONAL:    An individual pocket mask can be used during the course (in lieu of the provided sanitary barrier), and is yours to keep.
  • OPTIONAL:    American Heart Association PEARS lapel pin. Great for your uniform or badge / lanyard.

Note: If you are registering for another advanced course, you need only select the BLS Renewal option in one of those courses, not both.
