Prerequisites: Must be proficient in BLS skills. Initial or renewal PALS students may take this course.
Online course duration: Approximately 6 to 12 hours, depending on the level of proficiency.
Audience: Pedicatic Advanced Life Support (PALS) is designed to provide education to a wide variety of healthcare students, medical professionals, EMS, and other personnel working in healthcare occupations where this training is required.
What is covered: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is designed to provide pediatric healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children to help improve outcomes.
The course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency management of pediatric patients approaching, or already in, respiratory, shock, or cardiac arrest. The course covers treatment beyond the first few emergency minutes and goes through stabilizing patients or transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital.
Completion card: PALS Provider eCard is issued immediately at the end of the in-person skills session; eCard is valid for two years.
Notes: Part 1 of this course is taken ONLINE through eLearning.Heart.org with the access code supplied with your registration. The in-person Skills Session (Parts 2 and 3) will be completed at one of our training facilities after completing Part 1 and scheduling a Skills Session for Parts 2 and 3. Instructions for registering for the skills session are provided in the confirmation email sent after registering.
Please note that all blended-learning courses involve single-use AHA keycodes, so they are non-refundable once purchased - all sales are final.
Check the Technical Requirements page at https://elearning.heart.org/technical_support before registering to make sure your computer equipment will be able to run the modules.
You will be issued the same American Heart Association PALS Provider eCard after completing the in-person skills session as you would at the end of the classroom-based version of this course.
If you would like to renew your BLS Provider eCard, select the option below to have an additional BLS keycode link emailed to you along with your registration. The in-person skills portion will be done during your skills session appointment for PALS, and you will be issued both BLS and PALS eCards at that time.
