Prerequisites: None - course is open to all.
Audience: The course is designed for participants who would like to gain the basic skills needed that can help to treat basic injuries and/or prevent further injury.
This course is open to all participants, and does not require any prior medical knowledge or healthcare background. Our course covers treatment of children and infants as well, making this the ideal course for virtually anyone who may deal with others in a situation at home, work, or while traveling where an injury has occurred.
What is covered: The Heartsaver® program includes the fundamental concepts of rendering basic first aid as needed for selected medical emergencies (breathing, choking, allergic reactions, stroke, seizure, etc.), injuries (wounds, burns, broken bones, etc.), and environmental emergencies (animal / insect bites, heat / cold, poison, etc.).
Completion card: First Aid eCard is issued immediately at the end of the in-person skills session; eCard is valid for two years.
Notes: Part 1 of this course is taken ONLINE through eLearning.Heart.org with the access code supplied with your registration. The in-person Skills Session (Parts 2 and 3) will be completed at one of our training facilities after completing Part 1 and scheduling a Skills Session for Parts 2 and 3. Instructions for registering for the skills session are provided in the confirmation email sent after registering.
